The challenging aspects of your life can create intense negative emotions which are hard to understand or resolve. Ironically, learning to recognize feelings from specific circumstances, examining the effects those feelings have on your life, and finally assuming ownership of your feelings by naming them is the only way to shift away from that pain and distress to a calm, soothing emotional state.
Vocalize out loud, specifically and concisely, without mincing words, exactly what you're feeling name your anxiety, pain, guilt, worry, or frustration in order to release it.
Nnaming your emotion does not always work in the vacuum of your mind though. Sometimes you must admit your feelings outloud to others in order to receive the support, aid, or guidance needed to move beyond your distress.
Your ability to precisely express how you feel equals the level of your desire to change your feelings.
You can help keep yourself in a positive, receptive emotional state by thinking about, believing in, and frequently repeating the mantra "Good times are coming." Your attitude and degree of optimism DOES make a difference in how well you handle stress and cope with disappointments and how often you experience painful emotions.
