Awareness brings Insight

"The ultimate value of life depends upon awareness and the power of contemplation rather than upon mere survival." — Aristotle
Life is full of choices, large and small, and insignificant decisions can lead to huge, life-altering changes. Your reality though still comes from your perspective of all those elements in your life. Shifting your focus, concentration, and awareness allows you to see/feel/hear/think life from a different "angle", most probably, from a much wider view.
"Insight occurs when, and to the degree that, one knows oneself." — Andrew Schneider
Being tuned into yourself opens your consciousness of the whole world around you. Your appreciation and understanding of the various parts and pieces of the universe increases as you start to recognize and become comfortable with the various contradictions in life.
"A human being is a part of the whole, called by us 'Universe,' a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest — a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such achievement is in itself a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security." — Albert Einstein
Greater awareness comes from less attachment to material items and more interest in the spiritual side of existence. Ironically, improving your soul's qualities, values, and meaning allows you to more easily include others in your considerations while you all work within the whole picture. Insight comes from greater sight.
"Higher consciousness, enLIGHTenment, comes from meaningful experiences and lessons passed with the understanding that there truly is only one law - the Law of Love. When one leads a life expressing this belief, the mind and heart begin to open to new realities, and other dimensional truths become known." — Dr. Norma Milanovich & Dr. Shirley McCune
Unfortunately, greater awareness can lead to focusing on differences instead of similarities. Step back from any situation to see the larger scene and renew your perspective. Identify common causes, motives, and needs to shift your thinking from either/or to both/and.
"We are not what we know. We are what we are willing to learn." — Council on Ideas
