Believe it - Do it

Have you ever noticed how often young people (think - inexperienced) somehow manage to accomplish (sometimes extremely well) many things that older adults (think - parents) doubt, discourage, and diminish, saying it'll never happen? And yet if a person believes something hard enough, they succeed even when it's against all odds.

Sometimes though, instead of other people disbelieving something will happen, it could simply be you who doesn't really believe you can accomplish something.  A half-hearted belief most probably is the real reason for failure. And if this seems like an alien concept, consider how often people won't even make an attempt at something possibly because they intuitively know they don't really believe they can succeed.

In "You'll See It When You Believe It", author Wayne Dyer, says, "Your behavior is based upon your feelings, which are based on your thoughts. So the thing to work on is not to change your behavior, but those things inside of your consciousness that we call thoughts. Once your thoughts reflect what you genuinely want to be, the appropriate emotions and the consequent behavior will flow automatically. Believe it, and you will see it!"

The bottom line seems to be that a person's actions may not be nearly as important as the strength of that person's belief that they can succeed at something.  A person's belief system is so powerful that if you tell yourself repeatedly and often that you CAN do a specific thing, it is much more likely to happen.

"Within you right now is the power to do things you never dreamed possible. This power becomes available to you just as soon as you can change your beliefs." -- Dr. Maxwell Maltz
