Simplifying life's habits

"We're so engaged in doing things to achieve purposes of outer value that we forget that the inner value, the rapture that is associated with being alive, is what it's all about."  -- Joseph Campbell
Your heart is located at the intersection of your body and soul and beats to the rhythm of the universe.  Although it physically works without your intervention, the soul portion of your heart requires conscious attention in order to thrive.
"Learn to pause... or nothing worthwhile will catch up to you."  -- Doug King
"The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak."  -- Hans Hofmann
When attending to your soul, bad habits (both physical and emotional) are revealed, allowing choices that move your life to where you want it.  Based on lessons learned from past mistakes and failures, what changes are required to finally make the lifestyle changes you want?  First forgive your weaknesses, select the beliefs that work for you, and then allow your thoughts, attitudes, and perceptions to evolve.  Keep repeating this refining practice!
"Besides the noble art of getting things done, there is the noble art of leaving things undone. The wisdom of life consists in the elimination of non-essentials." -- Lin Yutang
Listening to your soul will alert you when the pace of life has become too fast, when the distracting noises are too loud, and when your life is totally out of balance.  When you long for some free time to play, relax, think, or reflect, take charge of your life by eliminating time wasters and unproductive habits, by making lists and decisions, by setting measurable, realistic goals, and by simply clearing your plate so you can concentrate on a new level of experience in your life.

You cannot give up a habit without replacing it with another one.
